We are E.J. and Tina Ziemann and we started making wine in 2009 on California Street in Huntington Beach, California. With the help of neighbors and family, we made our first vintage by hand harvesting and hand crushing. From that beginning, E.J. pursued private winemaking and we soon started winning awards at the Indy International Winemaking Competition, the Orange County Fair, Winemaker Magazine International Competition and the California Mid-State Fair, so after 9 years and as a labor of love, we decided to establish our own winery in order to share our wines with more people.
In 2013, we purchased a small parcel of land in beautiful Southern Monterey County, California and planted a small vineyard. After a six-year process of planting and building our winery, we finished in 2019 and have begun processing wine in our new facility. Our wines are produced in exceptionally small volumes in order to maintain the hands-on craftsmanship required to make truly unique wines. Most of our wines are produced in quantities of less than 300 cases.
Our wines are produced from sustainable vineyards that are nurtured with care and concern for the environment. We engage in thoughtful and natural winemaking processes with emphasis on limited use of sulfites. With the help of the soil and the sun, we harvest our grapes by hand with every sip in mind at just the right time. Our wines are primarily focused on the following varieties including; Zinfandel, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Albarino, Picpoul Blanc, Folle Blanche, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, and Grenache. Our grapes are sourced exclusively from San Antonio AVA in Southern Monterey California, an area that is perfect for producing extremely high quality fruit. Our wines exhibit everything the region has become famous for; spice, tannin, fruit and expressiveness.
We love wine and food, and if you do too, you have come to the right place! In our quest to produce the best wines possible, we have traveled to the most highly regarded wine regions in the world. Studying the techniques of winemakers in Europe, South America, California and Australia, we are bringing our experiences to you. Although our wines can stand on their own, we have learned the best way to pair food with our wine and we invite you to taste what we have created. Our production is small, but the taste of our wine is exceptional, unforgettable and beautifully balanced.
All of our wines are available for purchase through the online wine shop or at our winery during a private tasting. They are also available at Pine Canyon Store in King City, CA. and Pleyto Store in Bradley, CA. If you are interested in experiencing our wines with a tasting, please contact us at E.J.
